Automatic Backup?

Does anyone know of a free backup program that would automatically copy file/folders to a backup folder on a hardrive? My main problem is that one of the files I want to back up has to stay open. It is a text file that is edited in microsoft Excell, and is saved as a text file upon each edit. I’ve tried everyday auto backup and it will copy everything but that one file. Any help appreciated. Will be watching this question closely, so I’ll be glad to give clarification when needed. Thanks in advance!
