i have a blu ray BDP s350 i use component video at the moment, i set it to output 1080i but it dont?

the Tv and blu ray both say 720P or i 480i or p or 576 i or p..why isn’t it doing what i set it to do(the bdp i mean)? the tv manual say it can get 1080i via comp video.. blu ray plays says it is possible too but it wont.

Sony brand blue ray players have decided to not output 1080p on the component jacks. I suspect your model cripples the 1080i output as well.

Remember that Sony owns major movies and they dont want to make it easy to use the un-protected component outputs to master cheap video cd’s, DVDs or tapes to fuel the pirated movie market.

HDMI – is all about the copy protection.
