Can I ship HDMI cables using USPS media mail?

I want to ship my hdmi cables using USPS media mail. The cables fit in a bubble envelope just like any cd/dvd would, and it’s cheaper that way instead of shipping with a box.

Why would you want to use Media Mail? First, cables are not on the list of qualified material. Second, Media Mail starts at a minimum of 1 pound, and First Class Mail is measured in ounces.

Up to 7 ounces, First Class Mail is actually LESS costly than Media Mail and much faster in transit time. A single cable would not appear to weigh any more than 8 ounces with a bubble envelope.

If you are shipping many cables at once. there are Small Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes that you can get for free. Print your label online at usps.com and the postage is $4.80 and Delivery Confirmation Service is included for free.

Also understand that Media Mail is subject to Postal Inspection. This means that if a package is suspected of containing ineligible material, the USPS can open and check the contents.

Int he case of your cables, your package would be rewrapped and marked up Postage Due to the correct rate. Not really a very nice surprise for the recipient to have to pay more to get the package.
