What is the differences in hard drive thickness for a 3 1/2 inch hard drive?
i have noticed different thicknesses for a 3 1/2 inch hard drive. i wonder but never found an answer is a thicker hard drive slower then the thinner one or is it the other way around or are they equal. what is the difference or differences
The actual magnetic medium is an extremely thin layer on top of an aluminum substrate. The differences you see are the differences in the thickness of the aluminum substrate. The aluminum ‘platter’ thickness has no bearing on the speed of data transfer. The main speed contributors are the speed of the drive and the density of the data bits on the magnetic surface layer.
